Sherwin-Williams new Faux Impressions™ Specialty Finishes collection brings style and dimension to any room

Published on 2010-06-30. Author : SpecialChem

CHICAGO -- Make each room an original work of art with the help of Sherwin-Williams new Faux Impressions Specialty Finishes collection. Grouped into four categories, including Metallic Impressions, Quartz Stone Impressions, Artisan Impressions and Old World Impressions, the collection delivers 12 distinctive looks that were carefully created by the design experts at Sherwin-Williams.

"Faux Impressions incorporates subtle details in a way that really gives a room that 'wow' factor," said Jackie Jordan, director of color marketing for Sherwin-Williams. "From the marble pillars of ancient Rome to the glitz and glamour of the Hollywood silver screen, design professionals can achieve a unique look for their projects, whatever the inspiration."

Metallic Impressions

Add drama and luxury to a space with a radiant highlight from Metallic Impressions. Jewel tones enveloped with glints and glimmers of metallic create fresh sophistication without appearing too feminine. Smooth Metallic gives a room a polished luster, while Brushed Metallic adds subtle texture with the shimmer of silk. Textured Metallic adds glamour, grace and elegance with its hand-finished luxurious look.

"Metallic Impressions are perfect if you want to play up a small bathroom with glitzy jewel tones or add a subtle opulence to a master bedroom or dining room," said Jordan. "Even with the use of darker colors, a metallic finish can make a room feel larger because of its reflective properties."

Quartz Stone Impressions

Bring the natural beauty of semiprecious stones found on awe-inspiring canyon ridges into a design through Quartz Stone Impressions. To achieve the dazzling beauty of mineral sands, use the Smooth Quartz Stone application technique. Or, create a more weathered look by applying the Brushed Quartz Stone technique - a look that adds a softened texture. The Striae Quartz Stone application borrows its base from the metallic family and adds texture to create a knockout look.

"Nature is anything but boring," said Jordan. "By incorporating luxurious details of nature with Quartz Stone Impressions, we bring the outside indoors in a refined manner."

Artisan Impressions

For a truly unique, handcrafted look that is sophisticated and elegant, Sherwin-Williams introduces the Artisan Impressions application. The Crackle application technique takes on the look of well-worn metal patina and adds a multilayered depth to walls. For a tranquil organic vibe, the Leaf application incorporates the look of fossilized leaves for a touch of whimsy. Meanwhile, from afar the Tissue Paper application takes on the appearance of stucco or cement, but at closer investigation the irregular creases and folds add surprising interest.

"Consider using the Crackle technique to highlight a fireplace surround," said Jordan. "The application produces random splitting and blistering, making it a natural complement to the fire."

Old World Impressions

Inspired by plastering methods used in ancient Rome, Old World Impressions add incredible depth and dimension to a space. This style looks appropriate in any setting, whether a contemporary loft or a Southwestern ranch. Textured Fresco reproduces the characteristics of aged plaster walls and adds a sense of history to interior surfaces. Meanwhile Smooth Fresco exudes a warm rustic appeal through its earthy texture. High Polish Fresco gives off the translucent sheen found in classic, marble architecture of the Renaissance era - an exquisitely sophisticated finish.

"The Old World Impressions collection can give instant history to any home, whether it already has generations of stories or is welcoming its first owners," said Jordan
