The General Industrial Division of Sherwin-Williams has launched its first set of products from its Powdura ECO platform – the first and only line of powder coatings that uses an innovative polyester resin comprised of 25 percent pre-consumer recycled plastic (rPET). Powdura ECO powder coatings promote sustainability throughout the supply chain and help reduce plastic pollution.
Promote Sustainability Throughout the Supply Chain
Each pound of TGIC and TGIC-free Powdura ECO coatings – the first set of platforms to launch – contain the equivalent to 16 sixteen-ounce recycled plastic bottles. This fact, coupled with Powdura ECO products’ ability to meet or exceed existing powder coating performance standards, appeals to both manufacturers and consumers looking to reduce their environmental footprint.
Powdura ECO Coatings for Increased Flexibility and Impact Resistance
Powdura ECO coatings are suitable for interior and exterior environments, and various applications including lawn equipment, transportation vehicles, consumer goods, electrical enclosures and fixtures. Powdura ECO coatings can also be customized to meet specification requirements. The coatings provide exceptional color retention and solvent resistance, and when compared to conventional polyester powders may offer increased flexibility and impact resistance.
