ppg-new-aquapon PPG has announced the launch of PPG AQUAPON® WB EP water-based epoxy coating featuring a fast-drying, ultra-low volatile organic compound (VOC) formulation. This newest product in the PPG Aquapon line is designed for high-traffic interior spaces that face significant wear and tear and require easy maintenance and low odor.

Coating with Ultra-low VOC

Representing the next-generation in water-based technology, PPG Aquapon WB EP epoxy coating has 26 grams of VOCs per liter. This is approximately 90% less VOCs than previous PPG Aquapon products and better than most competitive low-VOC epoxy coatings. The coating also dries in as little as six hours, shortening the time required for maintenance.

Formulation Meets Environmental Compliance Standards

The new formulation meets the strictest environmental compliance standards, including those from the California Air Resources Board (CARB), Ozone Transport Commission (OTC) and California’s South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD). It also meets stringent requirements for scrub, abrasion, chemical and corrosion resistance. It is certified by the Master Painter Institute (MPI) to MPI Standard 115 (Epoxy-Modified Latex, Interior, Gloss) and MPI Standard 215 (Epoxy-Modified Latex, Interior, Semi-Gloss).

PPG Aquapon WB EP epoxy coating is ideal for hospitals, schools and hotels, which have significant daily traffic and serve large populations. Its durability, combined with convenient soap and water cleanup, also makes it an excellent choice for a wide range of other commercial, institutional and manufacturing facilities.

The coating is available in three bases – white/pastel, mid tone and neutral – opening up a range of color options that include darker, deeper hues. Ready-mix colors, including porcelain white, black, light gray and ASA #49 gray, also can be specified.
