New Eastman Tech Tips Makes CMCAB Formulations Easier

Formulating waterborne coatings with CMCAB (carboxymethyl cellulose acetate butyrate) cellulose esters has never been easier. Eastman Chemical Company has updated its recommended solutions and dispersions recipes, each contained in a new technical tip that facilitates easier formations by coatings formulators of all experience levels. Eastman cellulose esters, including CMCAB resins for waterborne systems, have long been recognized by formulators as a great problem solver for coatings applied over plastic, metal and wood.

"Our new tech tip significantly improves the ease of making dispersions/solutions of CMCAB cellulose esters," said Dirk DiSantis, Eastman's market development manager for industrial coatings. "We are confident that it will make life easier for all of our waterborne formulating customers."

The new technical tip, titled CMCAB Cellulose Ester Solutions and Dispersions - NA (TT-22), covers updated optimized processes for solutions and dispersions in addition to discussing how various solvent blends can be used to reduce HAP (Hazardous Air Pollutant) content in aqueous organic solutions of CMCAB cellulose esters. The relationship between solvent concentration, pH and viscosity is also reviewed.
