New Additions to EcoVAE® Line of Emulsions Unveiled

Published on 2009-10-27. Author : SpecialChem

DALLAS, TX USA -- As coatings manufacturers turn to innovation to help them recover from the financial downturn, Celanese Emulsions is offering new products for architectural coatings at the Western Coatings Symposium, October 25-28, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Celanese Emulsions booth 304 will feature low odor, low VOC solutions for coatings manufacturers. "Paint manufacturers today are either trying to stay ahead of the curve on VOC legislation or they are looking for ways to best position 'green' or 'eco-friendly' formulas to the consumer to gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace," said Craig Mitchell, marketing director. "Many companies have already discovered that formulating with Celanese EcoVAE® emulsions allows chemists to formulate high-performance DIY or contractor paints in order to meet both goals," said Mitchell.

Celanese is announcing the arrival of the newest member of the EcoVAE emulsion family: EcoVAE 408. "EcoVAE 408 is designed for use in low odor, low VOC interior decorative paints that require freeze/thaw stability," said Mitchell. "This new product meets our 'EcoVAE criteria checklist' which means the emulsion is a vinyl acetate/ethylene base, is APE-free, has a low residual monomer level and can be formulated into low VOC coatings to achieve green certifications," he said.

Rajeev Farwaha, Ph.D., senior scientist, is presenting "Vinyl Acetate-Versatic Acid Vinyl Ester Copolymer for Masonry Coatings."

Celanese technical, sales and marketing personnel are in attendance to discuss how the company's emulsions and no VOC coalescent, Celvaset PL-1000, can help paint manufacturers meet their goals for 2010 and beyond.

EcoVAE® is a registered trademark of the Celanese Corporation.
