Atofina Chemicals, Inc. has granted a Kynar 500® license to The Sherwin-Williams Company for the production of industrial coatings using Kynar 500® PVDF resin. The license gives Sherwin-Williams the authority to formulate coatings in a palette of colors using a minimum of 70% Kynar 500® PVDF resin from Atofina and market these coatings under the Kynar 500® trademark.

"We felt this was a great opportunity given the branding leadership of both companies," said Chip Bisignaro, Atofina's market manager for Kynar 500® Coatings and Film. "In addition, we hope to take advantage of the strong distribution channels and diverse markets served by Sherwin-Williams to bring new applications for Kynar 500® based coatings."

Kynar 500® resin-based liquid coatings have a long history of reliability and weathering resistance in architectural uses like metal roofing, wall panels and aluminum window extrusions. Kynar 500® resin-based coatings are available only through licensed formulators who warranty the quality and reliability of the coating.
