Eastman Exhibited Eastek™ 1200, Polymer Dispersion for Wood Coating Industry at ECS 2011

KINGSPORT, Tenn. -- Eastman Chemical Company launched Eastek™ 1200 at the recently held ECS 2011. Eastek™ 1200 is a polymer dispersion for use in the industrial wood coatings market, an easy-to-apply translucent solution that provides excellent penetration performance, ensuring a harmonious look on natural wood substrates.

A polymer dispersion from Eastman's range of sulfopolyesters, Eastek™ 1200 exhibits great impregnation behavior due to the small particle size of the dispersions, providing high gloss and clarity.

Tests demonstrate that Eastek™ 1200's chemical and physical properties produce fast drying coating systems. Eastek™ 1200 also prevents yellowing due to its high UV-light resistance, which in addition to toughness to damage caused by hail storms and other impacts make it highly desirable for window applications.

Eastek™ 1200's relatively low solution viscosity, with a neutral pH, eases formulation of increasingly sustainable, low-odor wood coatings.

"The performance of Eastek™ 1200 in application and dry time shows great results and ensures a durable and UV resistant finish for natural-wood window frames and other applications facing the elements," says Ralf Taube, Market Development Manager, Eastman.

"These latest product launches demonstrate Eastman's commitment to delivering innovative solutions and value-adding services and technologies to coating formulators and brand-owners across Europe and around the globe," says Erwin Dijkman, Regional Business Director, CASPI.
