At Labelexpo Asia 2005, Dow Corning will debut a new solvent-free silicone release coating designed to meet the material handling needs of Asian manufacturers and converters. The company will also showcase cost and productivity solutions that reduce dependence on high-priced platinum catalysts and enable faster processing, as well as coatings that can be used on less costly films.

Dow Corning has introduced a fast-curing solvent-free silicone release coating designed to meet the unique material handling and performance needs of Asian manufacturers and converters. Syl-Off® SL 7688 Release Coating is a low-cost, two-part, 100% silicone material that is easy to transport, store and dilute with solvent. This coating offers good anchorage to polyethylene-coated kraft and delivers stable release force performance. It is suitable for use in a variety of pressure sensitive applications.

One of the key cost-control solutions Dow Corning will be featuring at Labelexpo Asia is the Syl-Off® Advantage Series of platinum-catalyzed solventless silicone release coatings. The Advantage Series was designed to help customers defend themselves against rising platinum prices and other cost-related issues without sacrificing performance.

"This is proven technology," says Jenny Geng, Dow Corning's pressure sensitive industry market manager. "Our Advantage Series coatings have demonstrated their ability to significantly lower platinum usage and save our customers money in production facilities worldwide."

The Advantage Series includes a comprehensive selection of base polymers, crosslinkers, release modifiers and catalysts that enable flexible control of cure characteristics, release profile and costs. At Labelexpo Asia, Dow Corning will also be sharing information about high-speed trials being conducted on a new ultra-high-speed Advantage Series crosslinker currently in development.

Another problem-solver in Dow Corning's Labelexpo lineup is Syl-Off® 9100 Series, a line of solventless silicone release coatings for use on filmic substrates. Syl-Off 9100 Series, which uses proven, cost-efficient, thermal-cure technology, can be used to coat many different types and grades of films, from temperature-sensitive substrates like PE to low-cost, unprimed PET.

Ms. Geng says, "Dow Corning is committed to providing our customers with new technologies that will help them lower their material and production costs and raise their productivity without sacrificing performance."
