Cray Valley: New Technology for Metal Coating

Published on 2009-03-25. Author : SpecialChem

A new kind of hydrophobic acrylic dispersions is being specially designed for metal coating with excellent durability and corrosion resistance.

In order to achieve it, with a waterborne technology, Cray Valley Innovation's team has tackled within the same polymer issues like :

  • Excellent film formation in any conditions with a low coalescent demand
  • High water resistance
  • Good compromise of flexibility, resistance to blocking and hardness
  • Excellent adhesion on numerous substrates (from standard to substrates known as being difficult substrates...)

Such combination of properties, essential to get a good binder for various metal coating applications, is being developed thanks to a new emulsion polymerization process involving extremely low level of surfactant and new type of crosslinking.

Cray Valley, with this new self crosslinking hydrophobic acrylic, " -SCHA-technology" will enable paint formulators to produce Primer or DTM, with a waterborne technology which ensures fast drying and early water resistance, excellent adhesion, excellent barrier properties, good integrity of the paint film even in adverse conditions.
