Cortec® Primer Provides Long-Term Protection in a Corrosive Atmosphere

Published on 2008-09-11. Author : SpecialChem

Cortec's VpCI™-395 is a waterborne epoxy primer that has superior adhesion while providing salt spray, immersion, and long-term corrosion protection to steel. The water-based formulation complies with environmental regulations governing solvents and VOC limits without compromising performance, aesthetics, or durability.

VpCI™-395 may be applied by spray or brush; a dry primer of 1.5-3 dry mils (37.5-75 microns) is recommended. The coating dries to the touch in about 20-30 minutes and it takes approximately one week for the coating to fully cure. A topcoat can be applied as early as 30 minutes after the primer is applied, depending on the type of topcoat and drying conditions. Clean up is easy using soap and water.
