Clariant Brings its Terpolymer Mowilith® Emulsions to the Indian Paints & Coatings Market

MUMBAI, India -- Clariant supports Indian coatings producers' needs for cost-efficiency in the manufacture of high quality interior and exterior paints with the introduction of its new generation of Terpolymer Mowilith® emulsions to the Indian market.

Mowilith LDM 2466 and Mowilith LDM 2455 are third generation polymers. They are the latest additions to Clariant's Mowilith emulsions portfolio which comprises state-of-the-art and environmentally friendly products to meet the needs of segments such as decorative interior and exterior paints, varnishes, wood enamels and lacquers, metal coatings and others.

The new water-based terpolymers offer excellent cost-benefit for interior, exterior, premium, economy and soft / textured paints in comparison to pure acrylics and styrene-acrylics. At the same time they improve such properties as scrub resistance or bring an excellent sheen to the finished paint. Mowilith LDM 2466 and Mowilith LDM 2455 have less odor than styrene-acrylics, and are appropriate for the manufacture of odor-less paints.

Paint and coatings manufacturers can take advantage of simple, straightforward processing with the new terpolymers. The grades are highly-compatible with acrylic associative thickeners and cellulosic thickeners, and display high pigment binding power with good acceptance of fillers, including slurries. Paints based on these new emulsions show high stability at 60°C, aiding the manufacture of more stable paint products.

Mowilith LDM 2466 and LDM 2455 support long-term paint durability. Their high UV resistance helps to ensure outstanding outdoor resistance. For indoor locations, good alkali resistance to materials such as lime, cement, and plaster, makes them suitable for paints used in bathrooms, kitchens and other humid environments. Good abrasion resistance is achieved in both high and low PVC paints.

"Improving efficiency is an important consideration among India's paint and coatings community," comments Mr. Asis Patnaik, Head-Emulsions, Clariant Chemicals (India) Limited, "In line with this, we are pleased to now be able to offer our new generation of terpolymers to the Indian market, to support the manufacture of high performance paints with excellent cost benefits."
