Basel, Switzerland -- Ciba® XYMARA™ Quicksilver SF-02 is a new, ready-to-use flatbed screen printing ink that offers the best available all-round combination of pinhole-free mirror effect, adhesion and print performance. Suitable for a wide variety of plastic substrates, XYMARA™ Quicksilver SF-02 meets the needs of both ink makers and printers who prefer to produce mirror effects with ready-to-use printing ink. It provides an economic and productive printing alternative to foil blocking and film metallization.

"Metallic ink is frequently regarded as a critical product by ink makers for a number of different reasons, including uneconomically small batch sizes, high cost of raw materials, and the special formulating required," said Mike Mordente, Global Head of Ciba's Imaging & Inks Business Line. "XYMARA™ Quicksilver SF-02 removes these problems, allowing the screen ink maker to free up production capacity, reduce inventory cost and minimize waste."

XYMARA™ Quicksilver SF-02 is used to produce ultra-shiny decorative mirror effects on a wide range of transparent plastic substrates. End applications include high-quality point-of-sale displays and graphics for packaging and labels for consumer goods such as perfumes, fashion wear and luxury beverages.

XYMARA™ Quicksilver SF-02 complements and extends Ciba's range of mirror-effect pigments. Together with colorants such as Ciba® MICROLITH® A and Ciba® ORASOL®, it enables the creation of a full spectrum of colorful mirror effects, thus providing ink makers, printers and converters with complete printing solutions.
