ISELIN, NJ -- A new system of advanced obscuration enamels and silver inks designed to meet requirements around the world for automotive glass coating applications will be displayed by BASF Catalysts LLC (formerly Engelhard Corporation) at Glasstec 2006, the world's largest trade fair for the glass industry, on October 24-28 in Dusseldorf, Germany.

"The ability of BASF's new obscuration enamels and silver inks to meet global requirements enables our customers to reduce procurement costs and increase flexibility," said Teresa Prieto, General Manager, Engineered Coatings, at BASF. "Now our customers can use the same obscuration enamels and silver inks at their plants around the globe, which can also boost efficiency."

Traditionally several products have been used for the different requirements around the world. The new BASF coating system can be used globally because it is designed to provide superior performance for all key parameters. This includes busbar hiding, acid resistance, wide firing window, abrasion resistance, and more. In addition, the products are screen ready with excellent printability and give a smooth fired "non-stick" surface.

"We have been a supplier to the automotive glass industry for over 25 years, with people around the world to support our customers," said Prieto. "Now that we are part of BASF, our combined, expanded global resources will allow us to provide even more value to our customers."

BASF Catalysts LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of BASF Corporation, is a world-leading provider of technologies for environmental, process and appearance and performance applications.
