Ashland Introduces Natrosolâ„¢ Performax Paint Thickening Technology to Asia Pacific Market

SHANGHAI, China -- For more than 50 years, formulators around the world have relied on Natrosol™ hydroxyethylcellulose (HEC) to deliver cost-effective, robust thickening, creamy in-can consistency and other desired application properties to both interior and exterior paints. Today, Natrosol HEC is the most widely specified thickener brand for waterborne architectural coatings in the world.

Building upon years of continuous innovation within the Natrosol HEC portfolio, Ashland Specialty Ingredients, a commercial unit of Ashland Inc., is introducing Natrosol Performax hydroxyethylcellulose, a breakthrough paint thickening technology, to Asia Pacific customers at the upcoming ChinaCoat 2012 exhibition in Guangzhou from Nov. 28-30, 2012.

The new Natrosol Performax product line consists of a range of HEC thickeners that deliver unprecedented process flexibility and quality control to paint manufacturers. The patent-pending dry formulation of Natrosol Performax thickeners triggers rapid and complete dispersion in any water-based medium, even under low shear conditions. This allows manufacturers to add HEC in dry form at any point of the manufacturing process, eliminating extra process steps, such as the preparation of pre-slurries or dissolutions of HEC. The end result is a faster, more efficient, and less costly production process - and better paint quality.
