Sun Chemical Makes its Mark at IPEX 2006

Published on 2006-05-05. Author : SpecialChem

Slough, England -- Sun Chemical, a leader of innovation and partner with all major press manufacturers, reported a positive response to the launch of new products and initiatives at IPEX that included running exciting new products on machines displayed by just about every press manufacturer exhibiting at the show.

Sun Chemical, the undisputed world leader in inks pigments, played a major part in some world-leading innovations unveiled in PrintCity's Hall 1 at the show, where new ink technologies for a variety of print applications were used in live printing demonstrations with key PrintCity partners.

Committed to working with industry partners, Sun Chemical demonstrated how to add value to print in 'Centres of Competence' within the hall. These included innovations from publication web printing, a special centre for value added printing and processing, a colour standardisation centre, a manufacturing integration centre with presses using specially developed inks which help printers achieve standardisation in sheetfed offset. There was also a packaging integration centre where the latest Sun Chemical UV curing inks were used for live printing as part of a complete workflow.

The colour specialist also launched new series of printing inks for printed packaging designed to prevent or dramatically limit potential migration into the food. The levels of performance and quality demanded by print buyers, brand owners and packaging printers continually increase - and colour specialist Sun Chemical has risen to the challenge in making available innovative printing inks which meet the best practices necessary for food package printing within graphic arts.

The two full value-added solutions for low migration quality (LMQ) ink systems are now available from Sun Chemical. SunCure® ULM is UV curable and Irocart LMQ is conventional sheetfed offset. Both are the result of years of extensive research and development work.

Felipe Mellado, Corporate Vice-President, Marketing and Technology, Sun Chemical Europe, said: "The specific requirements on food packaging are diverse and vary from country to country. Our solid package of solutions launched at IPEX have been well received within the industry - there is already strong interest in these high performance and innovative ink products that are a direct response to our customers' needs."

Charles Murray, Corporate Vice-President and Group Managing Director, Sun Chemical Europe, said: "We had some very positive feedback to our initiatives and new products. IPEX was an important show for us."
