After the successfully completed integration of the
US packaging ink manufacturer "Color Converting" (CCI) in the
Siegwerk Group, the company is offering its customers in North America,
Europe and Asia identical products and services in consistently good quality.
"Thus we meet the requirements of all internationally operating companies
without losing sight of our major unaffiliated customers", says Herbert
Forker, President and CEO of the Siegwerk Group.
With that the positioning of the Siegwerk Group as a
global player of the packaging ink industry has made considerable headway.
With central production sites in Europe (Siegwerk Druckfarben AG), USA
(CCI) and Asia (Siegwerk Ink Thailand), the company offers its customers
an internationally standardized ink and service quality.
For this purpose production in Asia was completely changed over to toluol-free
ink. More flexibility through local presence on three continents
The purchase of CCI brings substantial advantages to North American customers
of the Siegwerk Group. "Now Color Converting offers its business
partners not only the proven CCI products but also the internationally
leading Siegwerk ink series. This has enabled us to considerably extend
our range particularly in the gravure packaging ink sector," says
Dr. Lothar Schäffeler, Director of Application Technology at Color
Converting and previously Director of Research and Development at Siegwerk
Druckfarben AG. American Siegwerk customers are now supplied with products
and services directly on site.
Customers in Europe receive the business group's products from Siegwerk
Druckfarben AG in Siegburg (Germany). Technical support is provided to
European business partners on site by the different local companies of
the group, for instance in Poland, Great Britain or Portugal. "Products
like SEALTECH and CCI's inhouse concept are valuable additions to our
product and service range", says Ralf Hildenbrand, board member and
President of the Business Unit Packaging Europe.
Customers in Asia receive ordering, service and ink selection support
from the Thailand production site.
Globally coordinated optimization of ink formulas
The merger enabled a globally standardized and coordinated optimization
of the ink formulas. Successful products from the USA such as the flexographic
printing ink series "SEALTECH" were added to the Siegwerk Druckfarben
AG product range. Proven products successfully employed at European customers
such as the ink series "PV-77" were launched on the American
market by CCI.
In Asia the Siegwerk Group offers all the proven and well-known ink systems.
"Especially Asian factories of internationally operating packaging
groups are very interested in a globally standardized ink quality. Through
close cooperation within the Siegwerk Group and concentration on three
central production sites, our company offers a unique range of products
and services in this regard", says Forker.
Innovation through global cooperation
The close cooperation of the innovation centers in Des Moines (Iowa, USA),
Siegburg and Bangkok is a great advantage also for the development of
new ink series. "Strategies for new developments are pushed forward
and implemented jointly with the market knowledge of three large world
markets", says Dr. Klaus Heger, Director of Research, Development
and Application Technology of Siegwerk Druckfarben AG.
