Sachtleben to Present Research Results on its Powder Coating SACHTOPERSE EP at ChinaCoat 2011

Published on 2011-11-10. Author : SpecialChem

A major problem observed with powder coatings (especially in contact with chemicals) is a color change known as "blanching". This is produced by water penetration into the powder coating system. Surface functionalization of inert and soft (less abrasive) synthetic barium sulfate particles allows covalent bonds to form between the particle surface and the surrounding matrix. This helps to prevent or reduce water penetration and thus protect powder coating systems against blanching and corrosion. No adverse effects on physical or optical properties were observed. The use of this new generation of synthetic barium sulfate particles is not limited to powder coatings, but also for other liquid coating systems, for example, based on epoxy resin suitable. By covalent incorporation of the barium sulfate particles in the binder matrix other coatings properties can be positively influenced. Examples are scratch and wear resistance, adhesion or anti sagging.

The Sachtleben experts are introducing latest results, tests and researches made with the new Sachtleben functionalized barium sulfate SACHTOPERSE EP at the Sachtleben stand at the 2011 Chinacoat exhibition at stand 4B30-40 in hall E4.
