Frankfurt, Germany -- Rohm and Haas
announced a general price increase of 5% on binders and additives
for the architectural, industrial and construction markets, textile and
non wovens, paper, leather and graphic arts. The increase will take effect
on June 15, 2006 in Europe, Middle East and Africa, and as contracts allow.
Rohm and Haas has seen unprecedented price increases for crude oil and
feedstocks, and indications are that prices will remain elevated and volatile
in the near term.
"These sustained increases in crude oil have resulted in dramatic
cost increases of feedstocks such as propylene over the past 18 months.
This price increase has been implemented to recover some of the increases
delivered by raw material, energy and freight costs," Xavier Susterac,
Rohm and Haas' Europe General Manager for Architectural and Functional
Coatings said. "We are, and remain committed to our customers and
the coatings industry, and continue to invest in new technologies that
bring quality products and value to our customers."
