Resin, Gel Coat Price Change Announced for October

Published on 2004-09-29. Author : SpecialChem

As of October 15, prices for all Cook Composites and Polymers' resin and gel coat products will increase by $0.06 per pound.

Not only have domestic raw materials continued to escalate in cost, but due to decreases in allocation of specific key materials, CCP is--like other producers of unsaturated polyester products--forced to import higher cost materials in order to support customer needs.

According to Paul Colonna, CCP Vice President for Composites, effects of weather problems in the southeastern United States on maleic production and its availability have added to an already difficult situation. Combined with announced increases for October on maleic, phthalic, all glycols, and titanium dioxide (TiO2), leaves no choice but to pass on these increased costs. Other factors continue to impact pricing as well. For example, natural gas, freight costs and steel prices remain at all time highs.
