Reichhold Announces Price Increase on Products for EMEA Composites Industry

Published on 2007-04-12. Author : SpecialChem

Research Triangle Park, NC -- Reichhold announced a price increase of 100 € (Euro) per metric ton (0.10 €/Kg) on all of its products sold to the composites industry in the EMEA region (Europe / Middle East / Africa) effective for all orders shipped on or after May 1, 2007.

"This increase is a necessary response to the rising cost of key feedstock and raw materials and escalating transportation and energy costs," explained Reichhold Vice President of Sales, EMEA, Alberto Piccinotti. A tight balance between raw material feedstock supplies and strong demand within the EMEA composites industry is driving up the cost of raw materials within the region.

Isophthalic acid prices have risen sharply due to extremely tight availability as a consequence of unplanned shutdowns of key feedstock material producers. The same situation applies for other selected raw materials employed in the manufacture of vinyl ester resins.

"Reichhold is making all possible efforts to minimize the impact of raw material costs and to secure the volumes required to support the growth of the composites industry," Piccinotti said. "We appreciate our customers' understanding during these challenging times," he concluded.
