Performance Coatings, Advanced Fiber Systems Demonstrate Power of One DuPont

In January 2005, DuPont Advanced Fiber Systems (AFS) and DuPont Performance Coatings (DPC) began developing a new composite coating for customer Line-X. The coating was to be used as a spray-on high performance topcoat for Line-X’s urethane truck bed liner.

When Line-X approached DPC about providing a coating for their truck bed liners, DPC had been working with AFS to incorporate DuPont™ Kevlar® micropulp into various coating formulations. Line-X had the need for a tough and durable truck bed liner with a high-gloss finish that would resist fading in the sunlight. The result of the collaboration is Line-X Xtra, an exclusive composite coating that combines the strengths of DuPont automotive coating technology and DuPont™ Kevlar® micropulp.

"The power of One DuPont is illustrated through the collaboration of AFS and DPC. As a result of this joint development, DuPont was able to offer a new composite coating that provides a glossy finish, durability and ultraviolet resistance for truck bed liners," said Kathy Kowalski, global business manager, new business development, DuPont Advanced Fiber Systems.
