Nubiola Invests in Lab Equipment to Spped-up Development for the Coatings Market

Published on 2012-11-01. Author : SpecialChem

Nubiola has recently installed new equipment in its Corporate laboratory in Barcelona, where it combines R&D activity and the Corporate Application laboratory, which provide worldwide technical service to customers in coordination with the Regional laboratories.

The Q-SUN Xe-3 xenon arc test chamber installed recently complements the Sun test and QUV light accelerated testing equipment already available in Barcelona.

As there is no perfect accelerated method to match natural exposure testing, Nubiola now has a complete range of testing equipment to evaluate its pigments and their use in different systems. On one hand QUV, which does not reproduce sunlight, but evaluates the severe damaging effect of short-wave UV radiation. On the other hand, Sun test and Q-SUN, which uses xenon arc lamps, in two variables - just radiation or the evaluation of the damage caused by the full sunlight spectrum in combination with rain.

Additionally, with the Q-SUN it is possible to have absolute control over humidity, temperature and irradiance (light intensity), allowing it to achieve the ASTM and ISO standards for Plastics and Coatings.

The Q-Sun is used as a complementary tool to help the development of new applications as well as the development of new products to satisfy its customers' needs.
