Mallard Creek Polymers at TAPPI & PaperCon2013: Discussed Advances in Functional Coatings

Published on 2013-05-06. Author : SpecialChem

Mallard Creek Polymers (MCP) has continued to increase its participation in the Paper and Nonwovens Industries and in the TAPPI organization in 2013. PaperCon2013 provided MCP the opportunity to describe the many ways the company is involved.

MCP recently announced participation in IDEA13 and released information on many products available to the nonwovens industry, including many acrylic polymer emulsion grades like Rovene® 6014. The company also announced new products for Barrier Paper Coatings, namely Tykote®6152 and the new Latex Products for Barrier Paper and Paperboard Coating selection guide in January, 2013. This product and technology has been quickly adopted by the market. MCP has continued to advance the product portfolio for oil and grease resistant barrier coatings. New products are in the early launch phase and in early research. The company expects to introduce at least two new products in this field in 2013.

The company has strong participation in TAPPI and PaperCon2013. Steve Ottone, Technical Services Manager for MCP, was a session chair for Advances in Functional Coatings. This session focused on the growing field of barrier coatings, in which MCP is a products and technology market leader. Steve continued to grow his impact on TAPPI as he took on the role of Associate Technical Editor of TAPPI Journal. In this capacity, he is responsible for coordinating peer review and editing of technical journal articles. Other key technical and commercial people also attended the conference and were prepared to discuss the Tykote and Rovene product lines and their progress with new products.

Mallard Creek Polymers also sponsored the Runnability 5K Fun Run/1.5 Mile Walk that provides scholarships for deserving students in pulp and paper science and technology programs. This marks the fourth year that the company has sponsored this great cause.
