LORD Corporation Introduces Two New MetalJacket Custom Coaters

Cary, NC -- LORD Corporation, manufacturer of MetalJacket® coatings, is pleased to announce the addition of two new MetalJacket custom coaters.

The coaters -- The Finishing Company based in Franklin Park, Ill. and AquaArmor Technologies, a subsidiary of S&B Technical Products of Ft. Worth, Texas -- will help LORD Corporation meet the growing demand for MetalJacket in both automotive and industrial applications.

"We are excited to have two new partners as part of the MetalJacket team," said Todd Wallis, Global Market Manager for the MetalJacket product line. "The interest in and transition to MetalJacket coatings continues to be strong due to the improved performance, reduced environmental impact and overall lower operating cost that MetalJacket coatings offer."

MetalJacket coatings are applied via an autodeposition process over either bare steel or zinc phosphate pretreatment. The final finish exhibits a uniform film thickness, without high voltage electric assistance or rinses, regardless of part configuration. Using an automated application process -- coatings can be applied via both indexing and monorail systems -- MetalJacket delivers high performance coatings at a lower overall cost. Further, the system is environmentally-friendly as it contains no hazardous components, generates minimal hazardous waste and sludge and uses no toxic acids or heavy metals. Air and wastewater emissions are nearly eliminated and MetalJacket meets automotive substance use restrictions and the European end-of-life recyclability directive.

"With the addition of MetalJacket coatings," said Bill Carlson, President of The Finishing Company, "we're able to offer environmentally-sound technology that enhances corrosion control and improves rubber-to-metal bonding."

Mark Weih, President of AquaArmor Technologies, concurs, stating that S&B Technical Products has been working with and using MetalJacket corrosion control coatings for more than four years. "The performance of the MetalJacket corrosion control coatings in our own rubber-to-metal bonded products has been so successful that we leveraged our knowledge of the application equipment and processes to start applying MetalJacket coatings for other customers, and started a new company as a result," said Weih.

The Finishing Company is privately-owned and is a full service provider of custom coatings. Its platforms include decorative and function applications in both plating and powder coating divisions.

Located in Fort Worth, Texas, AquaArmor Technologies is a subsidiary of privately-held S&B Technical Products. A world leader in the design, production, sales and marketing of proprietary rubber and rubber-to-metal bonded products that serve the global infrastructure markets for the water, sewer, oil, gas, railroad and transportation industries; S&B Technical Products operates in more than 50 countries worldwide with more than 1,200 employees.

With headquarters in Cary, NC, and sales in excess of $500-MM, LORD Corporation is a privately held company that designs, manufactures and markets devices and systems to manage mechanical motion and control noise and vibration; formulates, produces and sells general purpose and specialty adhesives and coatings; and develops products and systems utilizing magnetically responsive technologies. With manufacturing in eight countries and offices in more than 15 major business centers, LORD Corporation employs more than 2,400 worldwide.
