LANXESS to Add Weather-resistant Premium Pigments to its Levanyl and Levanox Grades

Published on 2011-11-22. Author : SpecialChem

LEVERKUSEN -- Specialty chemicals company LANXESS is looking to add a splash of color to outdoor applications with its organic and inorganic pigment preparations. With this in mind, the Functional Chemicals (FCC) business unit is complementing its range of colorants with seven new weather-resistant Levanyl and Levanox grades.

New Weather-resistant Premium Products

"Starting from November 2011, we will add lightfast grades for outdoor applications to our existing range of pigment preparations," said Dr. Thomas Sommermann, Head of Technical Service & Development Colorants at FCC. The newly developed pigment preparations based on high-performance organic and inorganic pigments are ideal for outdoor use owing to their lightfastness and weather resistance. They will be an effective supplement to the solvent-free aqueous, organic Levanyl pigment preparations.

Three new dispersions of quinacridone magenta P. R. 122, DPP red P. R. 254, and anthanthrone scarlet P. R. 168 will complement the dispersion range for organic red colors. The range of inorganic dispersions will be extended by a brilliant bismuth vanadate yellow (P. Y. 184), two brilliant blue shades (P. B. 28 and P. B. 36), and a special modification of P. Y. 42 iron oxide with a warm orange shade. All new inorganic dispersions utilize a rheology modifier system which prevents the heavy pigment particles from forming a solid presscake when settling, thus enabling easy homogenization by stirring after long-term storage.

The new developments pave the way for a significantly enhanced color space of LANXESS pigment preparations and more brilliant hues with excellent lightfastness.
