Jotun Malaysia is embarking on a new, exciting journey, with the opening of its ultra-modern facility in Nilai. It's the largest plant of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region, with an area size of 93,000 sq metres, almost five times larger than its present one in Shah Alam.

It's a new landmark and another milestone for Jotun, one that's shared with 7,800 staff worldwide. The Norwegian paint manufacturer has seen high growth year by year in Malaysia and aims to be a source of national pride for the country.

A total of RM160 million has been spent on the production facility, and Jotun plans to invest a further RM100mil over the next 10 years as part of its expansion drive, says Peder Bohlin, its regional director for South-East Asia and managing director for Malaysia.

The Nilai plant will cater to different markets in the region. Landmark features of the plant include its very own colourant manufacturing facility, the first outside Norway, and it is also poised to be the worldwide hub for unique antifouling paints.

In its strategic location, it will supply protective and marine coating to Singapore, which has closed its manufacturing facility. A new Sales-Service-Logistics & Training Centre has already been in operation since September last year in Tuas (Singapore).

The Shah Alam facility, will focus on producing the water-borne decorative paints to serve the Malaysian and Singapore markets.

Established 26 years ago, Jotun Malaysia is a subsidiary of Jotun A/S in Norway. Jotun is one of the world's leading paint manufacturers with a history of more than 80 years, and a burgeoning presence in more than 80 countries.

Some of Jotun's landmark international projects include the world's tallest building -- Burj Khalifa in Dubai , the world's tallest tower Canton Tower in Guangzhou, China, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and the world's largest passenger vessel Queen Mary 2.

It has been investing and driving innovations globally through sophisticated research and development facilities in Norway, Malaysia, U.A.E., South Korea, USA, and China. In addition, Jotun also has regional labs for Powder Coatings in the Czech Republic, UAE and Thailand.

After more than four decades in the Asia-Pacific region, Jotun now has eight ISO certified paint factories producing a complete range of conventional and sophisticated coatings, including environmentally friendly products such as its recently launched Majestic EcoHealth range of paints.

Now the plant in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, will join the expanding Penguin family, and together work towards the common goal of bringing to new heights in quality and innovations in paint products not only in this region but worldwide.
