International® expressed that it was honored to have supplied the coatings for the 'Far Solitaire', the platform supply vessel awarded 'Ship of the Year 2012' by major Norwegian shipping magazine Skipsrevyen.

The vessel's owners, Farstad Shipping, received the coveted prize at the SMM Exhibition in Hamburg on 5th September. Built by STX OSV Langsten in Norway as an IBC Code 2 (chemical tanker) compliant supply vessel, the 'Far Solitaire' is the first of its kind, the main reason why it was selected for the award. Developed by Farstad Shipping in close cooperation with Rolls Royce Marine Ship Technology Offshore, it is specially designed to undertake all aspects of offshore oilfield services, including transportation of unlimited quantities of noxious liquid substances, an increasing requirement from the oil and gas industry.

For this technologically advanced vessel, International®'s innovative coatings are an ideal choice. The specification includes the high performance anticorrosive universal primer Intershield®300, leading edge foul release coating Intersleek®900, and the renowned Intersmooth®7465HS SPC antifouling. Above waterline areas have been finished with Interfine®979 acrylic polysiloxane, designed to provide excellent color, gloss and durability.

The 'Far Solitaire' will be delivered to Farstad Shipping in October 2012 and forms part of the company's renewal of its fleet to introduce safer, more innovative, flexible and environmentally superior vessels. This year's award marks the seventh time since 2000 that a vessel built by STX OSV has been awarded the title Ship of the Year. 2009 saw the multifunctional plough / tug / supply/ subsea service vessel 'Far Samson', also delivered from STX OSV Langsten to Farstad Shipping, win the accolade.
