Buffalo Grove, Ill -- Dow Biocides, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company ('Dow'), and ANGUS Chemical Company ('ANGUS'), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Dow Chemical Company, are introducing eight regional customer application centers around the world to align their business growth strategies with direct market and customer focus.

In addition to their global business and technology development location in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, USA and established centers in Horgen, Switzerland, Singapore and most recently Shanghai, China, ANGUS and Dow Biocides will open new customer application centers in Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Sao Paulo, Brazil; Tokyo, Japan; Guangzhou, China; and Pune, India by the end of 2006. Each center will house a fully equipped, state-of-the-art laboratory that is appropriate for the ANGUS and Dow Biocides products applications in the region, including patented TAUNOVATESM high throughput microbial testing and challenge testing capabilities; in addition to dedicated technical sales representatives, and customer application specialists and technologists.

"Helping customers solve their individual challenges is the main drive for our new business organization," said Mark Henning, general manager for Dow Biocides and CEO and general manager for ANGUS. "We will continue to offer access to our global processes and technologies, but with the added benefit of local implementation, combining our specialty knowledge of the additives and biocides industries with an understanding of the specific requirements in each region, and utilizing focused resources who understand the needs of each market."

In addition to the introduction of new regional customer application centers, ANGUS and Dow Biocides have restructured their marketing and sales forces to reflect their individual business objectives. The new, streamlined structure will feature Nanette Hermsen as global marketing manager for Dow Biocides and Liam Doherty as global marketing manager for ANGUS. Hermsen will be responsible for the marketing and sales of biocides for all applications, excluding paint and coatings, and Doherty will be responsible for all ANGUS products, excluding metalworking fluids additives and leather. Prior to the restructuring, marketing efforts overlapped between businesses.

Offering the industry's largest and most diverse product portfolio, Dow Biocides offers a product for just about every type of microbial challenge and system requirement. The performance capabilities range from high to low pH performance, quick kill to sustained performance and a range of registrations unparalleled in the industry.

Aligned as a market-focused, problem-solving specialty chemicals business, ANGUS is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company. ANGUS develops and delivers unique nitroalkane-based chemistries to our customers for applications in latex paints, mineral slurries, metalworking fluids, water treatment, biological buffers, solvents and thinners, wood adhesives, pharmaceutical & agricultural intermediates, SBR latex shortstops, fuel additives and personal care and household products.
