Published on 2005-09-09. Author : SpecialChem

ISELIN, NJ -- Engelhard Corporation (NYSE:EC) announced it is increasing prices for hydrous; calcined; and surface-modified, kaolin-based pigments to the worldwide paper market and global specialty markets for paints, plastics, rubber, inks and other industrial applications.

Hydrous kaolins for the paper market will be increased $15.00 per short ton, and calcined kaolins will be increased $25.00 per short ton, effective with shipments on and after October 15, 2005.

Hydrous ASP® products for global specialty markets will be increased $20 per short ton, Satintone® and Ultrex® calcined grades $30 per short ton and Translink® surface-treated grades $34 per short ton, effective with shipment on and after October 15, 2005.

"Current selling prices do not reflect the full impact of today's costs," said Robert Spadoni, Engelhard’s vice president and general manager for performance minerals. “In order to remain a viable supplier and maintain the level of product quality and services our customers have come to expect from Engelhard, we must increase prices to recover at least a portion of these incremental charges."
