AKRON, OHIO, USA -- Eliokem , a leading global specialty chemical provider, receives the 2008 Energy Saver award presented by the U.S. Department of Energy for it's savings at its Akron, Ohio manufacturing site. The award is part of the Save Energy Now program that honors companies that have achieved more than 75,000 MMBtu total energy savings or more than 7.5% total energy savings compared to the prior year.

Mr. John Mizroch, Acting Assistant Secretary for the Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, recently recognized 128 U.S. manufacturers with Energy Saver Awards. DOE annually presents awards to individual plants and companies for actively pursuing energy-saving opportunities identified through a Save Energy Now energy assessment. By implementing assessment recommendations over the last year, these 128 industrial plants have achieved more than $37 million in total cost savings and 2.9 trillion Btu in total energy savings. The 2008 recipients received the award based on their 2007 implementations and savings.

"We are very proud of our plant and all of our associates who made this award a reality, "states Robert Smith, Eliokem Akron Plant Manager. The project was headed by Chuck Maas Eliokem Energy Coordinator, who along with his team, identified energy savings opportunities, implemented changes and tracked the progress and savings.
