Elementis Specialties Announces Organoclay Price Increase

Published on 2007-07-20. Author : SpecialChem

Elementis Specialties announces that it will raise prices for organoclay additives by 7-10% depending upon the composition of each specific product.

Organoclay products are used primarily as rheological additives in the coatings, construction, personal care and oil drilling markets. This price adjustment is required to offset the inflationary impact of energy, shipping and raw materials in particular tallow based amine compounds. This will impact all markets segments and all geographic regions where the organoclay products are produced or sold.

Greg McClatchy, President of Elementis Specialties comments, "The demand for bio-diesel in particular is driving the price for tallow based compounds to unprecedented levels, and this price adjustment is required to keep pace with the inflation of our raw material costs"
