Eaglescliffe -- Elementis Chromium has informed its customers that the price of its range of chromium chemicals worldwide will be increased by 10% with effect from 1 October 2005.

Customers have been informed by individual letter.

Commenting, Elementis Chromium Commercial Director, Jon Dean, said "We are seeing high demand for chromium chemicals from all parts of the world and all of our plants are running at high operating rates. The increase in prices is required to continue the process of restoring margins to a sustainable level against a background of severe increases in input costs, especially energy."

Elementis Chromium, one of the four operating companies that comprise Elementis plc, is the world’s largest producer of chromium chemicals and has plants in the UK and US. It is the only producer to manufacture the full range of chromium chemicals.

Chromium chemicals are used in a wide variety of applications including leather tanning, metal finishing, coatings, timber treatment and chromium metal.
