Ecology Coatings Selects Robert R. Matheson, Jr., Ph.D. to Chair Its Scientific Advisory Board

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI -- Ecology Coatings, Inc., a leader in the discovery and development of ultra-violet curable, clean-technology advanced materials, has announced that Robert R. Matheson, Jr., Ph.D., has joined the company's Scientific Advisory Board as its chairman. Dr. Matheson, Technical Manager for DuPont(TM) Tyvek®, has a distinguished career spanning decades in macromolecular physics, coating materials and processes, lifecycle assessment and organic material science.

"I am pleased to be joining Ecology Coatings' Scientific Advisory Board," commented Dr. Matheson. Ecology's clean technology coatings provide superior wear, scratch resistance and hardness with a single application, which reduces coating thickness and offers versatility in applications. All of Ecology's coatings are ultra-violet curable, which decreases manufacturing time, lowers energy consumption and allows for a smaller manufacturing footprint. Additionally, the coatings contain virtually no harmful solvents or other chemicals, which eliminate the release of harmful airborne emissions during the curing process.

About Robert R. Matheson, Jr., Ph.D.

Dr. Matheson is currently the Technical Manager for DuPont Tyvek, a recognized global leader in selective barrier technology that has introduced new dimensions of protection, security and safety in a wide variety of industries, including protective apparel, construction, envelopes, medical and industrial packaging, and graphics.

Dr. Matheson joined the Central Research and Development Department of E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Co in 1980. Since then he has held a number of positions in technical and management assignments within Central Research, Engineering Polymers, Automotive Products, Performance Coatings and Nonwovens.

Dr. Matheson has B.S. degrees in chemistry and mathematics from Michigan Technological University, in Houghton, Michigan, as well as a M.S. degree in Physical Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Biophysics from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. Additionally, he was an NIH Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Stanford University, Palo Alto, California. Dr. Matheson has authored or coauthored over 50 professional publications and 6 U.S. patents, either issued or applied for.
