DuPont Titanium Technologies Announces a Price Increase for Titanium Dioxide Products in Western and Central European and North Africa Markets

Published on 2008-08-08. Author : SpecialChem

WILMINGTON, Delaware -- DuPont Titanium Technologies has announced a price increase for DuPont™ Ti-Pure® titanium dioxide grades sold in Western and Central Europe, Turkey, Greece and North Africa (Maghreb countries).

Effective Aug. 15, prices for DuPont coatings, plastics, specialty, paper and laminate titanium dioxide grades will increase by 50 Euros per tonne in all Euro markets.

"While demand for TiO2 remains quite strong, our costs -- from raw materials to energy and utilities to reinvestment in production assets -- are at historically high levels and continue to escalate," said Ian Edwards, global business director for DuPont Titanium Technologies. "So we have no choice but to impose a new price increase, in addition to the ones we announced in June and July. Given the current volatility and unpredictability of our input costs, contracts are currently being renegotiated to permit a more timely response to these external factors."
