DuPont Japan Announces the establishment of DuPont Automotive Center in Nagoya

TOKYO -- DuPont Kabushiki Kaisha DuPont Japan, Headquarter Tokyo Chiyoda, President Akio Kobayashi announced the location of the new DuPont Automotive Center in Japan. Located in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, the Center will play a key role in system and application development for the automotive industry market. The new facility is scheduled to be operational around October 2005 with a staff about 60.

Japan is one of the leading countries in the world in technology innovation for automotive industries. It is therefore crucial for DuPont to establish a DuPont Automotive Center in Japan to collaborate with customers. To contribute to the innovation of our customers in the automotive industry, it is critical for DuPont to provide new material technologies and integrated solutions for systems and applications.

The DuPont Automotive Center is specially designed to leverage competency from different functions including marketing, technical support, technology development and project management for system and application development across different business units. Various business units in DuPont will work together to develop solutions for systems and applications to meet the fast changing needs of the automotive industry and add value to customers' business.

This DuPont Automotive Center will initially focus on serving the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) for Japanese cars and its Tier 1 parts suppliers including their overseas operations. It will expand its services to car OEMs and Tier 1 parts suppliers in other Asia Pacific countries in the next phase of operation. The Center will work closely with the research facility in the US and at Utsunomiyain Japan on all research and development matters.

DuPont also announced the appointment of Harumichi Ishioka as the manager of the DuPont Automotive Center. The Center will support multiple businesses which offer High Performance Materials such as Engineering Polymers, Packaging Material, High Modulus Performance Material and High Performance Film, High Performance Paint, Electronics Materials, High Performance Fiber and Fluoropolymer Materials. Mr. Ishioka is currently leading several projects in collaboration with customers.
