On Friday, 18 November, Monika Riese-Martin, Business Unit Director of DSM NeoResins officially opened the new regional centre in Shanghai. The opening ceremony was attended by Steven Chu (Business Manager Coatings Asia Pacific), Sjaak Griffioen (Business Manager Adhesives and Graphic Arts) and Henk van de Wiel (Commercial Director) and included traditional Chinese Lion dancing and music. Some hundred guests including customers, distributors and other business relations were invited to celebrate the the opening of the new applications technical centre and regional office. This event took place just after the Chinacoat exhibition, where DSM NeoResins, DSM Coating Resins and the newly acquired Chinese resins business of Syntech joined forces.

The new facility in Shanghai replaces the Singapore base, where NeoResins had serviced the markets for acrylic and polyurethane resins for the past eighteen years. "With the new set-up in Shanghai at the DSM R&D Centre China site we will be even closer to our main customers and major markets than before", comments Henk van de Wiel. "The new facility gives home to the sales and technical marketing staff, a fully equipped applications laboratory for paints and inks, applications of formulated products on wood, metal, plastic, paper and film can be applied, tested in a controlled way and developed to the customer needs."

The new two-floor facility is equipped to the latest technical and safety standards and will be expanded in the next year through technical recruitment and aligned DSM Coatings and Inks sales staff. It will also be supported through increasing local manufacturing facilities for the leading technology of DSM NeoResins.
