Dow's UCAR Emulsion Systems Announces Price Increases for Emulsion Products and Rheology Modifiers

Published on 2005-03-01. Author : SpecialChem

Cary, NC -- UCAR Emulsion Systems (UES), a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company, is increasing the list and off-list prices on its emulsion products and rheology modifiers.

Effective April 1, 2005, for all North American customers, UES will increase the price of vinyl acrylic and NEOCAR™ polymers by $0.05 / wet pound, and will increase the price for acrylic, styrene acrylic, styrene butadiene, NEOCAR acrylics and UCAR™ POLYPHOBE™ rheology modifiers by $0.06 / wet pound.

These increases will affect all market segments, including architectural and industrial coatings, adhesives and sealants, and continue to be driven by the ongoing escalation in all costs related to the manufacture of these products, particularly feedstock, energy and transportation costs. Additionally, availability issues with several crucial raw materials remain a problem for the industry.

Customers interested in learning more about the price increases should contact their local Dow sales representatives.

The UCAR Emulsion Systems business manufactures and markets emulsions for architectural and industrial coatings as well as for building products, textiles, traffic paint and adhesives. UCAR and NEOCAR latexes, and UCAR POLYPHOBE rheology modifiers can be formulated into a wide variety of products to enhance performance properties. UES operates at 13 production facilities globally, including five operating in North America.
