MOSCOW, Russia -- As part of its growing commitment to the coatings industry in the countries of Former Soviet Union and particularly in Ukraine and Russia, Dow Coating Materials confirms its presence at the CIS Coatings and Raw Materials Conference, that will take place in Alushta, Ukraine. Technical specialists and business leaders of Dow Coating Materials - the largest global supplier of raw materials for the coatings industry - will be on hand to discuss how Dow Coating Materials can work with local architectural and industrial coatings manufacturers to develop more environmentally enhanced and higher-performance products for their demanding market needs.

New standards for water-based coatings

In light of the industry's increasing demand for more environmentally enhanced manufacturing processes and products, as well as improved quality, Dow Coating Materials will be showcasing innovations for the manufacture of water-based coatings. In particular, ROPAQUE™ opaque polymers have been proven to reduce formulation costs while increasing the final product's durability - as well as its competitive advantage in dirt pick-up resistance and color retention. The full benefits of this proprietary technology will be presented during the conference by Polina Zosimova, Dow Coating Materials technical sales representative in Russia and CIS. Dow's presentation "Improving quality of water-based paints with Dow additives and ROPAQUE™" is scheduled during the second session on water-based coatings.

Stepan Chupilkin, Dow Coating Materials marketing manager in Central Eastern Europe & FSU, comments: "Leveraging Dow's global experience, technological expertise and R&D capabilities, Dow Coating Materials is ready to offer today - along with technical support - a wide range of competitive and high-performance coatings solutions to formulators. "Passionately committed to helping accelerate growth of the coatings industry in the CIS countries, we are further developing closer relationships with the local players, sharing best practices and knowledge, and to timely address diversified needs of our clients. Such a relationship is a recipe of success for both parties and the whole coatings industry," concluded Stepan Chupilkin.

Misha Shukov, Dow Coating Materials sales director, East Europe Growth Region, believes that the coatings industry in the Russian and CIS markets is poised for growth. "Now that more environmentally enhanced products and manufacturing practices are part of the picture, there is great opportunity for customers to redefine the coatings market with new products. When we work closely with customers, and develop coatings solutions that the market is demanding, the whole industry grows. We are really looking forward to re-connecting with customers at the show."
