Dow Announces Price Increase for All UCAR™ Solution Vinyl Resins

Published on 2004-12-01. Author : SpecialChem

MIDLAND, MI -- The Epoxy Products and Intermediates (EP&I) business of The Dow Chemical Company, is increasing prices for all UCAR™ solution vinyl resin (SVR) products globally by 15 percent. The increases are effective January 1, 2005, or as contract terms permit.

Dow says it must take this pricing action to keep pace with relentless increases in feedstock and transportation costs. The price increase will also allow Dow to recover and improve its margins to ensure it can reinvest in the business to improve product quality and supply capability.

Dow produces SVR products through a proprietary solution polymerization process. Applications include coatings, inks and adhesives for rigid and flexible packaging, heat-seal lacquers, industrial coatings, wood sealers, strippable coatings, and maintenance and marine coatings.

Dow is a leader in science and technology, providing innovative chemical, plastic and agricultural products and services to many essential consumer markets. With annual sales of $33 billion, Dow serves customers in more than 180 countries and a wide range of markets that are vital to human progress, including food, transportation, health and medicine, personal and home care, and building and construction, among others.
