Midland, MI -- The Dow Chemical Company announced that its Polyglycols and Surfactants business will increase the North American list and off-list prices of certain CARBOWAX™ and CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ Polyethylene Glycols (PEGs), Methoxypolyethylene Glycols (MPEGs) and other polyglycol products effective December 1, 2007. Price increases for select polyglycols will range from $.02/lb to $.05/lb, depending on the product and the grade. These increases are driven by strong demand and persistently high raw material costs.

Dow was the first company to commercialize the production of polyethylene glycols in 1940 and is still recognized around the world as a leader in the business. CARBOWAX™ and CARBOWAX ™ SENTRY™ Polyethylene Glycols (PEGs) and Methoxypolyethylene Glycols (MPEGs) are a family of water soluble linear polymers formed by the addition reaction of ethylene oxide. They are used in applications such as adhesives, cosmetics/personal care, household products, pharmaceuticals, printing and inks, textiles, wood treating and more. Other polyglycol products from Dow are used in applications including foam control, lubricants, surfactants and other applications.
