Douglas Smith to Lead DuPont Specialty Colorants and Additives Business

WILMINGTON, Del., Dec 3,, 2003 - DuPont announced today it has named Douglas Smith as market segment manager for its custom liquid colorants and fine particle dispersions business. The business provides customers with a range of individualized services from initial development through ongoing manufacture. DuPont Specialty Colorants and Additives is part of DuPont Coatings and Color Technologies.

Prior to this announcement, Smith was OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) market segment manager for the DuPont Ink Jet business. "It's exciting to bring our experience in color, dispersant technology and overall formulation know-how to a broader audience. We're leveraging the knowledge base, built over many years of serving DuPont needs in the areas of paints, coatings, digital inks and various other polymer systems," said Smith. "Previously our external projects were cases where customers sought out the help of DuPont. Now, we're proactively offering solutions to businesses in many industries."

The business serves customers who need higher performance or tighter specification tolerances than what is currently offered. Combining DuPont knowledge and experience with six-sigma methodology provides customers with added product value and significant cost savings through yield and/or throughput improvements. DuPont Specialty Colorants and Additives is also ISO-9002 certified and provides superior safeguards and reassurance in the areas of safety, health and the environment.
