DKSH India & Seppic Form Partnership to Distribute Specialty Polyester Polyols & Additives for Waterborne Coatings

ZURICH -- DKSH's Business Unit Performance Materials, a leading specialty chemicals distributor, has appointed Atul S. Nagarkar as new Country Manager for its India operation. He is a Postgraduate Chemical Engineer with a master's degree from Florida State University, USA, and UDCT, India, and brings 18 years of experience in the specialty chemicals industry. Atul Nagarkar's main responsibilities will be to further strengthen DKSH's position as the preferred partner for Market Expansion Services in India and to develop Business Unit Performance Materials as the leading specialty chemicals distributor in this key market.

DKSH has broadened its business footprint in India in the recent years, also through the acquisition of Voltas' chemicals trading division, a member of the Tata Group. Today, DKSH's Business Unit Performance Materials provides first-class marketing, sales, and distribution services through an own sales force to over 700 customers in India, at a time when its European and American suppliers are looking to this buoyant, emerging market for growth. DKSH serves customers in the coatings, construction, cosmetics, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, plastics and specialty chemicals industries with tailor-made solutions for their specific applications through seven offices in the major Indian industrial centers of Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Secunderabad.

Superb start in 2011

DKSH has had a superb start to the new business year and succeeded in conducting numerous new business partnerships in India: Ashland Aqualon Functional (AAFI) Ingredients and DKSH have recently decided to join forces in India. DKSH India provides Market Expansion Services for AAFI's pharmaceutical products, namely Klucel, Benecel (HPMC), Blanose (CMC), Ethyl Cellulose, and Natrasol. The products are used in a broad range of pharmaceutical applications, particularly in solid and liquid orals, binding agents, or as suspending agent. The two companies are already collaborating in paint, construction, and personal care applications.

Horphag Research has appointed DKSH to distribute its products Pycnogenol® and Prelox® in India. This is the logical and well appreciated continuation of a fruitful and long-standing relationship, during which DKSH has successfully distributed Horphag's pharma, personal care, and food ingredients to leading manufacturers around the globe and proved its credentials as a top notch service provider.

In addition, DKSH India and Seppic, a supplier of innovative turn-key intermediates and functional additives for a range of industrial applications, have decided to enter a distribution partnership. The agency will cover the distribution of Seppic's specialty polyester polyols and additives for polyurethane applications, solvents and coalescing agents, plasticizers, reactive diluents, wetting agent and antistatic agents for waterborne coatings, adhesives, inks, and plastics.

For the Indian food and beverage industry, DKSH has started a strategic distribution alliance with Sensus, a fast-growing company that produces the innovative food ingredients Frutafit® inulin and Frutalose® oligofructose. Considering the trend of healthy eating, these two products are in growing demand worldwide.

Moreover, DKSH is delighted to announce that Abbott Healthcare has appointed DKSH India as "Partners In Excellence". DKSH supplies Abbott Healthcare with several key ingredients to supports its market expansion. To provide further value-added services to suppliers and customers in the personal care industry in India, DKSH started to build a new innovation center at its Mumbai site. To run the facility, the Swiss-based company already hired a technical specialist to support business partners with formulation development, innovative applications, and new technology evaluations. The Indian laboratory will open as DKSH's 19th research site around the globe.
