Deavenport to Receive 2002 Chemical Industry Medal

The Society of Chemical Industry (American Section) has announced that former Eastman CEO Earnie Deavenport will receive the 2002 Chemical Industry Medal.

The medal, one of the chemical industry's most prestigious awards, is given annually to recognize individuals whose contributions have enhanced the progress and performance of the industry. The medal will be presented to Deavenport during the Society's meeting on October 16, 2002, in New York City.

The Society of Chemical Industry is an international society founded in London in 1881 to foster applied chemistry in all its branches and facilitate the exchange of ideas. The American Section, established in 1894, is one of the society's largest sections.
