Conformal Coating Solutions from Electrolube At APEX Exhibition 2009

Published on 2009-04-21. Author : SpecialChem

Electrolube exhibited and joined industry experts from more than 50 countries at the premier event APEX Expo this month in Las Vegas. The show proved to be a celebration of printed circuit board and electronics manufacturing and test technology. Visitors to this years show could find technology they needed, were able to meet new suppliers and networked with industry experts easily, and were supplied with vital industry standards information, and also gained invaluable information from new research papers and discovered solutions necessary to make manufacturing possible.

Conformal Coating Solutions from Electrolube At APEX Exhibition 2009

Electrolube exhibited two high performance conformal coatings and a peelable coating mask at APEX, along with a full range of cleaners, thermal paste, contact lubricants and resins.

NVOC, a VOC free coating, has been carefully developed to achieve above and beyond the expectations of a replacement for solvent based conformal coatings. The diluents chosen in the formulation of NVOC offer a massive reduction in viscosity creating a 100% solids material in a sprayable format, similar to that of solvent based materials but without any VOC emission. The cured coating provides excellent moisture and chemical resistance.

Also on show was PUC, a flexible, tough polyurethane conformal coating offering excellent mechanical and dielectric properties. PUC is white spirit based and toluene-free, making it one of the safest solvent coatings. It adheres to a wide variety of substrates and fluoresces under UV light for ease of inspection.

PCS is a flexible synthetic acrylic latex with good solvent resistance making it suitable for masking components, connectors and other items during a conformal coating process. PCS is particularly suitable for protecting areas from ingress of conformal coating, e.g. pin connectors, adjustable pots, IC sockets etc. The high film strength of PCS means that it can be peeled by hand without breaking or leaving residues. The coating is water-based and therefore environmentally friendly.

"We did not know what to expect from this years APEX show with the current economic climate, however we were more than pleasantly surprised. Although visitor numbers seem less than the previous year, it was obvious that the people attending the show had a purpose to be there. We obtained quality leads from the show, with many interesting enquiries, I look forward to following them up." Brian Moylan - General Manager.

Electrolube is among the world´úęs principal experts in the formulation and application of conformal coatings designed to meet international approvals (including European and American military specifications). Electrolube also manufactures a number of ancillary products to complement the use of their coatings. These include thinners, removers, peelable coating masks and thixotropic materials for the effective coating of lead ends. The coatings range consists of acrylics, silicones, polyurethanes, waterborne and non-VOC coatings.

"The continued global expansion of Electrolube and its innovative range of environmentally friendly products proves that out capability and dedication to customer care combine to create a winning formula, an excellent show." Karen Harrison - Marketing Manager.
