Muttenz -- Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, has announced a further global price increase in the range of 5% to 12%. In recent months Clariant has significantly decreased its costs. The company has accelerated its restructuring efforts and increased productivity. In the same period, feedstock prices of the chemical industry have risen dramatically. Clariant finds itself in the position now, where further price increases are necessary to compensate for the high speed of raw material and energy cost rises. Therefore the company will increase its prices in the range of 5% to 12%.

In a letter addressing the customers, Jan Secher, CEO of Clariant, wrote: "In order to meet the future needs of our customers, we have to remain a strong partner, who is able to further invest in process and product innovations, as well as in availability, quality and safety of our products. On this basis we are forced to significantly increase our prices in order to meet these expectations."
