Capelle aan den IJssel, The Netherlands -- Chemical Partners Europe SA will present coating technologies from Eastman Chemical Company at Stand C 12 at The Middle East Coatings Show, Feb. 27 to March 1, 2006, in Dubai. Eastman offers a unique portfolio of specialty additives, adhesion promoters and solvents to help paint manufacturers balance cost pressures and performance needs with environmental concerns. Eastman's technologies are vital to paint formulations across many markets, including architectural, automotive OEM and refinish, can and coil, general industrial, consumer electronics and industrially produced wood furniture.

"Eastman coatings technologies are the result of more than 70 years of product research and innovation," said Ralph Raffoul of Chemical Partners Europe SA. "We're thrilled to be representing this advanced portfolio of products to support paint manufacturers in the Middle East and Africa with expertise in producing the best performing paints for their specific applications."

In addition, Graeme Billington, senior account technology representative for coatings Eastman Chemical B.V., will present, Improving the Performance of Waterborne Coatings. In the presentation, Billington will discuss how market drivers, such as environmental issues, regulatory limits and industry consolidation have accelerated a global move in architectural coatings from solvent-based to water-based paints. He will then share reformulation strategies using coalescents to help manufacturers achieve top performance in their architectural coatings, while balancing industry regulatory concerns.

Eastman's specific product offerings include coalescents such as the industry-standard Texanol ester alcohol and low-odor Optifilm Enhancer 300, which are considered non-VOC in the European Union according to the EU Directive 2004/42/EC for Decorative and Vehicle Refinishing Paints. The product portfolio also includes specialty solvents like Eastman ketones and Eastman EEP for use in conventional, high-solids and newer waterborne systems; cellulose esters such as Eastman CAB, Eastman CA and CMCAB cellulose ester, which significantly enhance film formation while speeding dry times in solventborne and waterborne systems; and Eastman adhesion promoters, both chlorinated and non-chlorinated, which improve coating adhesion to difficult-to-adhere polypropylene (PP) and thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) substrates.

Eastman is also represented in the Middle East by CMDC Ltd (Saudi Arabia), Al Khowahir (U.A.E) and Petrochem (selected other countries). Chemical Partners represents Eastman in Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon.
