Baumer's Debut with its Intermittent Holmelt Coating Appreciated at Labelexpo

Published on 2011-10-13. Author : SpecialChem

As a newcomer to the Labelexpo Europe, Baumer hhs encountered an unusually high level of interest. The booth in Hall 12 was constantly besieged and many visitors came with the specific aim of experiencing the trade fair highlights live and to get advice from the team of experts in attendance.

Intermittent coating is the first new conception. The hotmelt coating was demonstrated at the push of a button and the most diverse patterns were generated live. This fascinated the manufacturers of booklet labels, but the visitors could also immediately imagine other possible applications. Naturally an outstanding continuous coating can be achieved with the same unit.

The visitors honored courage and confidence in proprietary technology. Baumer hhs was the only hotmelt specialist to demonstrate applications live during the trade fair. The coating head started up without trouble every time, even after longer breaks.

On a separate exhibit for hot glue coating, the visitors were able to find out for themselves 'hands-on' how easily the nozzle can be changed by loosening four screws. Long retooling times when changing subjects are thus consigned to the past.

The basis of the coating head is the patented HP-500 electro-pneumatic gun, which is characterized by the integration of the air valve into the head. The shorter airways obtained by this allow faster clocking and a very compact design. As a result, the coating heads can also be fitted where installation space is tight.

The demonstration centre in Krefeld has been supplemented by a new coating machine. The capacity gained by this offers every interested customer the possibility to carry out tests with his own material. A pleasing consequence of the fair is a tight test programme for the next few weeks. The large demand reflects the broad interest of the visitors.

Initial test dates were arranged spontaneously at the Labelexpo. The Xdot Braille printing system is an absolute trade fair first. Braille lettering was applied live by four print heads to a running web. Beside Baumer hhs, the system was also demonstrated under virtual production conditions by the partners Convertec and ALS Engineering.

Visitors were able to experience the easy operation on the intuitive, easily learnable user interface. Many visitors took the opportunity to print their name in Braille.

Of particular interest were the savings that can be achieved by doing away with screen costs. To that can be added the gain in flexibility: Braille can be applied with the Xdot digital Braille system virtually at the push of a button. The quality of the printed Braille dots convinced the expert visitors, directly resulting in many concrete enquiries. The partner companies Convertec and ALS Engineering also reported lively interest in purchasing.
