BASF to Increase Prices for Acrylics, Styrene Acrylics, Additives, Auxiliaries

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Effective November 1, 2004, or as contracts allow, BASF's Functional Polymers business will raise prices in the United States and Canada for products that it supplies to the paper coatings, adhesives, architectural coatings, construction and nonwovens industries.

Prices for BASF's acrylic and styrene acrylic latex products sold to these industries, including Acronal®, Acronal Optive®, Basonal®, Sterocoll® and Latekoll®, will be increased by $0.05 per wet pound.

In addition, prices for additives and auxiliaries sold to these industries, including Basonat™, Collacral®, Luphen®, Lutonal®, Pigment Disperser™ and Plastilit™, will be increased by 5 percent.
