OLDENBURG/MÜNSTER -- Salt water from below, blazing sun from above and on top of that, a stiff head wind. For the maritime sector, especially robust materials are needed. BASF offers solutions with just the right products, distributed under the RELEST® brand. The highly specialized products for all types of ships meet the most stringent requirements and, at the same time, are easy on the environment. The coating systems are resistant to temperature fluctuations and UV radiation, reduce wear and tear, boost functional reliability and thus significantly contribute to maintaining value.

Maritime Corrosion Protection - Optimal Protection for Ships

Every ship is exposed to heavy mechanical and weathering-related wear and tear. Salt water, sunlight, ice, heavy seas and much more impact all components. Reliable corrosion protection is the order of the day, along with impact and abrasion resistance. BASF offers coating systems with superior resistance, innovative high-solids and hydro-products that significantly reduce solvent consumption, as well as new anti-fouling coatings that repel plant and animal organisms from surfaces.

Heavy-duty Corrosion Protection - For Structures In and Around Water

Loading docks, production sites and warehouses, piers, cranes, machines, steel constructions and other structures in and around water are exposed to tough climatic impacts similar to those to which ships are subjected: residual moisture, sea spray and fluctuating waterlines. To fight these impacts, BASF offers its extremely weather- and abrasion-resistant metal protection systems.

Special Solutions for Mega Yachts

BASF sees huge growth potential in the coating of mega yachts. To this end, the company has developed a completely new product range. Below the waterline, three to four coats of paint protect the hull from corrosion damage and algae growth. On the exterior above water, up to five coats of paint are applied, producing a glossy surface that make elegant yachts absolutely radiate. For the uppermost layer, the topcoat, the sky is the limit when it comes to design. Here, BASF also fulfills even highly unique desires for its customers.
