BASF Presented a Range of Coatings Solutions at the Western Coatings Conference

FLORHAM PARK , NJ -- BASF presented its newest solutions for architectural, industrial, and automotive coatings applications at the Western Coatings Conference and Show, Oct. 24-26, 2011 at the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"The Western Coatings Show is an important industry event because of its focus on current developments in the industry, including new formulations," said Andrea Frenzel, Vice President, Business Management, Pigments, for BASF in North America. "BASF supports the industry with sustainable, eco-efficient solutions that meet or exceed process requirements."

BASF experts delivered three presentations during the conference :

  • "Competitive Advantages with Innovative and Trend-Setting Pigment Technologies for Formulators," by Latoska Price, Technical Manager-Architectural Coatings
  • "High Hide, Low VOC Universal Colorants for Architectural Coatings," by Nilanjan Chakrabarti, Technical Group Leader, Formulations
  • "Concrete Sealers and Coatings: A Clear Approach to Consistent Evaluation," by Kevin Milks, Applications Chemist, who presented with Greg Stopher, Technical Director, PT Hutchins, Industry, CA
  • Visitors to the BASF exhibit learnt about the latest ingredients, chemistry and know-how, including formulation additives technologies from the company's recent acquisition of Cognis Corporation . Among BASF's featured solutions were:

  • Acronal Optive® latex for enhanced titanium dioxide efficiency
  • Pigment solutions for heat management and zero volatile organic compound (VOC) liquid dispersions
  • High-efficiency defoamers and rheology modifiers- Kaolin functional extenders and performance mineral solutions
